Short Brief:
Simon retired from the Australian Army (Forces Command) as
a Captain in early 2010 and joined BTB for his well respected and
acknowledged leadership skills.
As an Army Officer, Simon was awarded the US Bronze Star for his work as a counterinsurgency advisor in Afghanistan. He has trained regular and reserve officers and commandos, and worked alongside armies from around the world in a leadership capacity. He has passed SASR Selection and instructed in demolitions, small boat handling, ambushing, jungle warfare, planning and analysis. His broad range of experiences in both peace and combat has given him a keen interest in leadership, decision-making and team dynamics.
Simon has worked with ExxonMobil (Drilling) in The Bass Strait in The Ocean Patriot campaign.
His skills in communication with crews, at all levels, kept Simon in high demand as a facilitator and safety coach. Simon is also a highly skilled and acclaimed photographer, Simon has worked at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won numerous photographic awards.
Simon has a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) from the University of Queensland, is a graduate of the Royal Military College and a French linguist. He holds a Diploma in Personnel Management from the University of New South Wales and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
