Dr Lisi Beyersmann joins BTB – 'Cognitive Science, Linguistics & Communication'
As BTB grows we continue to look at better ways to challenge ourselves, our business, our practice and, our customers. Recruiting Dr Elizabeth (Lisi) Beyersmann to the team has given BTB added depth in our Psych services supporting the work of Dr Hase.
Lisi has a Doctorate in Cognitive Science completed at the Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Computational Linguistics and a Masters of Science in Computational Linguistics, which she obtained at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. She has both a professional and personal passion for languages and culture and how this affects individual and group behaviour. This is a particularly valuable asset given the diverse geographical nature of the drilling industry. Lisi works with the BTB Team providing research into improving communication in multi language and multi-cultural operations.
With several years experience conducting research in the field of Cognitive Science and teaching Psychology, she works with clients using behavioural techniques such as priming to investigate cognitive mechanisms underlying reading and reading acquisition. Lisi has published research papers in major scientific journals and spoken at conferences in the USA, Europe, New Zealand and Australia, including the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Psychonomic Society, the European Society for Cognitive Psychology Conference, and the Australasian Experimental Psychology Conference.
Lisi is fluent in German (native), English, French and Spanish and has worked with English, German, Spanish and Taiwanese participants to explore cross-cultural aspects of cognitive processing. Lisi lived in Germany and France, before she moved to Australia in 2006 to pursue her doctorate studies. She currently resides in Freshwater on the Northern Beaches of Sydney where she enjoys swimming, surfing, reading, hiking and playing classical violin.
In 2011, Lisi was awarded the Macquarie University Research Award for Excellence in Higher Degree Research. This award is a significant achievement in academic performance and research. Lisi was featured in an awards ceremony that outlines her work and ability to communicate effectively and enthusiastically to a non-academic audience.
