PNG Southern Highlands, ‘Safety Leadership – New Starters’
The BTB PNG Team have worked with the ExxonMobil PNG-LNG team and Nabors Drilling to follow through with ‘Hurt Free Operations – Right From The Start’ conducted six weeks ago in the Yarra Valley with the training of crews in the Highlands of PNG. For many new workers this is the first time they will have worked on a drilling rig and with expatriate workers. To do this BTB have engaged Pidgin and Huli (local language group) translators to assist with training. What does this mean? Training is understood, objectives are clear and expectations are shared.
Keith ‘Dinga’ Bell has spent the last month working with crews, supervisors and management at Well Pad A and the building of Rig 702 on site. Keith stated, ‘Everyone is here for the right reason. They realise the challenges and they realise this project isn’t going to be won over night. It will take time, effort, energy, patience with one another and above all a real belief that we can do this hurt free. I’ve been involved in many operations over the last 30 off years and I feel good about this one. I know we can do it and I know we are training people and coaching people with the skills and beliefs to achieve hurt free operations’.
