Simon Phin, Key Note Address - Houston, ‘Positive Psychology & The Company Man’

26 September 2011

Having spoken for over ten years in the area of peak performance BTB’s CEO, Simon Phin, spoke in Houston to a global audience on a rather different subject matter in drilling. The subject of positive psychology and safety may not have an immediate direct link, however the relationship is indeed clear. Our mindset plays a significant role in how well we do what we do and what level of consciousness we bring to the workplace, culture and task.

Simon stated, “For too many years we have not recognised the significant role that the ability to project optimism in the workplace plays. We know from a consistent stream of data published over the last 24-36 months that the ability to work with a positive mindset is a significant determining factor in the ability of the workplace to function and perform. Safe performance is a direct result of the ability of the workplace to welcome change willingly and grow from it”.

‘Positive Psychology & The Company Man’ (condensed version) is available from the website as a download and via video.
